Sweet Static

Yes, another mp3 blog. Trying to share what I like with the world. The music here is for sampling only and are up for a limited time. It's simple really you see. If you like the music then go out and support the artists. Buy a cd/mp3/eight track, make a request on radio, see them live, tell others about it. This way this wonderful medium hopefully won't be stomped on.

The Anti-Hit List for August 19

Falling behind on The Anti-Hit List so quick reviews of the last two to get caught up. So here is John Sakamoto's picks for last week.

The biggest disappoint for me was seeing him point out The Polyphonic Spree's cover of Nirvana's "Lithium" from Don't Need Anything. I tried to download the song earlier but didn't get it. Really curious in hearing it. Guess I'll have to wait.

But in Polyphonic Spree news a member of the band, Annie Clark's, side project St. Vincent is on the list. You can check out four sweet songs at her/their Myspace page. Definitely recommended.

Next is a band from Edmonton called Red Shag Carpet. Sakamoto points out a catch song called "Drawn In Chalk" Really great song. I see they're touring out east in fall so hopefully they'll come to Windsor sometime. Here's the before mentioned song and one other from their website.
Red Shag Carpet-"Drawn In Chalk"
Red Shag Carpet-"So & So"

Like I said cutting it short due to time constraints and the fact that it's a week and a half old right now. Other stuff on that week's Anti-Hit List includes The Walkmen, Lupen Crook, How I Became The Bomb and Gary Jules.

To check out the entire list you can go here.
